Cat Help Information
Help I found a Cat/Kitten(s).
The Casual Cat Café has a VERY small capacity and limited funds. We do NOT take in cats directly at the café...When we have space, we work with rescues and shelters who have signed partner agreements with us. The rescues and shelters remain responsible for the cat until adopted.
However, if you find a stray cat, YOU can still help them in other ways!
Report the cat found to your local animal shelter where you found the cat - someone may be looking for them!!
Bring the pet to Animal Services or a local vet to scan them for a microchip
Click here for the PET MICROCHIP LOOKUP if you have found a pet with a microchip - the company will try and contact the owners
Utilize social media and/or family and friends to try and find if they have an owner
Hang flyers around your neighborhood or local vet offices
Try using apps like 'Pawboost' or 'Nextdoor', or websites like Finding Rover for lost pet posts and/or post that you've found a pet
List of Cat Rescues and No-Kill Shelters that MAY be able to help…
Please note that shelters often have very little help and are usually over capacity. You can try checking with them, but it is likely that they will be full. A way to help shelters is by acting as the found cat/kitten(s) foster. By acting as a foster it saves room at their shelter, they can still help with adoption networking, and vetting expenses.
Information if you have or found Feral Cats
In the hot summer months, make sure there is plenty of water available to outside cats - ONLY give them water - and add ice cubes for fun, and to keep it colder, longer!
If it is cold outside, consider building a DIY - shelter for them, something like this, these, or these.
Sometimes, feral cats/community cats need to stay outside.
Check out this info from Carol's Ferals - Keeping Feral Cats Feral
If you feed them, FIX THEM! Make SURE to get them spayed/neutered!! Consider taking advantage of a low cost spay/neuter program like Texas Coalition for Animal Protection which provides free spays/neuters for cats who are brought in live traps or Spay Neuter Network who provides free spay/neuters, microchips, and rabies for people who live in a Fort Worth Zip Code.
You can rent humane cat traps at Panther City Feral Cat Coalition.
Once you get the feral kitties fixed, please return them to the location you found and captured them. That is their home and the area they are familiar with. Dumping or releasing them in a new and unfamiliar area can cause them extreme distress and harm.
If you have a cat you can no longer take care of, please consider the following:
Contact the rescue/foster/person you got the cat from - they may be willing to assist cats they've adopted out
If your cat is having behavioral issues, please check with your vet to see if there are underlying medical problems! Lots of times, these problems can be solved without relinquishing your cat to a rescue or shelter where the problems may just get worse or just end in euthanasia. Check out these resources as well:

Moving? Make sure you can take your pets with you!! Use a site like Animal Humane Society, No Paws Left Behind, or select "Pet Friendly" or "Pets Allowed" online to search for pet-friendly housing when you are moving. Otherwise, see below regarding REHOMING your cat instead of relinquishing them to a shelter.
If you STILL can't keep your cat, utilize social media and/or family and friends to try and REHOME your cat BEFORE you call a rescue - "The best way to save a beloved pet is to keep them OUT of the shelter system"
Talk to staff at your veterinarian's office, or other local veterinarians
Post on local community bulletin boards, or in the newspaper
You can also try sites like https://getyourpet.com/ or Rehome (by adoptapet.com and the Petco Foundation - click on the blue icon for a direct link)
You should try everything possible (including what is listed on this page) to REHOME your cat before contacting rescues or Animal Services.
If you believe you have exhausted EVERY possible option listed on this page - then please fill out this form and we will contact you only IF we are able to help. We will NOT be able to help if you haven't already done what is listed on this page.
Additionally, IF we are able to help, it may only be as accepting you under a partner agreement. This means that you will still be responsible for the cat and their care as well as facilitate their adoption. We will act as a temporary foster home for the cat, but if they were to become sick or are showing behavioral issues, you would have to take the cat back.
Thank you.
